Stopping for gas at service plazas

Is there any way to know whether or not there is gas on the 'truck' side of a tollway service plaza? If not, what do those of you with gassers do at service plazas? We're headed off to our first long haul with our new tt, and I've noticed over the past couple years that some have gas on the truck side, and some don't. And, usually, when you pull around to the truck side, if there is no gas, there's no way to get around to the other.

So, if I go to the truck side, I may not be able to get gas, and if I go to the car side, I don't have anywhere to park while the family uses the facilities. What do you all do?

Yep, you can. I personally prefer the truck side, but my truck's filler opening is large enough for the high-flow truck pumps.

The gas stations at service plazas aren't bad - almost always a straight shot. It's the truck stop gas stations that the truck pumps really shine. Easy in, easy out.

  • Generally truck side is for trucks only!!

In some states there’s a variance in price because of taxation difference between consumer and business (trucks) use; therefore, some station do not want MH in the truck side.

  • Go for the Car lanes. The good thing about travel plazas are that you have a better chance the lanes are one-way so you will not get blocked in. They are also away from the store eliminating driving infront of the store to get back on your way. Just be mindful of your approach so tail swing won't ruin everyone's day on departure.
  • No gas on the truck side- diesel and high-flow pumps only.

I think "the bear II" describeed it best.
  • I use the car side(or RV side if equipped)and the family heads inside while I fill 'er up. Then if they aren't back by the time I'm done, I drive over to the nearest safe parking spot (usually on the truck side) and wait for them.
  • Ummm..... if no gas on truck side, drive around to other side.

if gas on auto side, fill, then park somewhere (truck lot?) to wait for family.
