I've now owned 3 RV's, have raised 2 kids, and now have 8 grandkids. Back in the 1980's we borrowed my parents I think it was a 22 foot class C RV and took a month long drive from Ohio out west to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, Bryce, Zion, the Grand Canyon it was one of our best family vacations, also got us hooked on RV'ing.
The OP has a bigger learning curve to overcome,no ability/access to borrow an RV, and zero RV experience vs. growing up in a RV'ing family.
The whole "Once in a lifetime." aspect means the OP does not need a lot of RV drama that is normal/typical for a rookie RV'er.
I would not want my first RV adventure to be a part of "My trip of a lifetime!"
