The OP has a bigger learning curve to overcome,no ability/access to borrow an RV, and zero RV experience vs. growing up in a RV'ing family.
The whole "Once in a lifetime." aspect means the OP does not need a lot of RV drama that is normal/typical for a rookie RV'er.
I would not want my first RV adventure to be a part of "My trip of a lifetime!"
This can also be said about flying if one has never flown before. Negotiating airports, flight changes, rental cars, etc., can be pretty overwhelming. I do agree, though, starting a 2 month long rving journey without any experience might not be the way to go. A few small trips prior to see if he even likes the lifestyle is probably a good idea.
