Towing a suzuki Vitara

Hello good people, here I am again in need of your valuable advise and recommendations. I just purchased a Suzuki Vitara 2002 stick shift and 2WD because it was within the towable range of my motorhome and I prefer the high suspension.
I have already purchased the tow bar and brackets for it but As I was reading the manual It shows that the truck is being towed with the back wheels on a dolly. My question is can you dinghy tow this truck also when you put it in neutral or this might damage the tranny. Your help is greatly appreciated. thank you.
  • Two wheel drive are not towable four down.
Look at owners manual Tow on dolly butt first.
I will verify after GD gets home tonight.
  • It is not listed in any towing guide that I have.
I towed an earlier model and the owners manual stated only a 4 wheel drive with the transfer case in neutral could be towed 4 down.

Some may say that they have towed a 2 wheel drive, 4 down.
  • What it says in the manual. The Suzuki SUV models, and their Geo and Chevrolet counterparts, become towable by virtue of a neutral gear in the transfer case of the 4x4 models. The transmission gets put into a gear that keeps it from trying to spin.
