Upsell and Add-ons for New Purchase

They will try to sell you extended warranty and other services. Just like car dealers, they will come down on price on them if you want them. They work good for some and others don't want them. To each their own. We purchase them as we want to enjoy our camping experience and if something goes wrong, we want someone else to be responsible for it. Ours also included roadside, which is good to have. Of course if we were retired and had time to deal with things, not have to worry about our schedule, or time to do things (and knew how), then we wouldn't opt for it either. Budget is another factor as well. If i'm maxing my budget on the RV and cant afford the extras, then I would rather lower my budget on the RV and get the extras.

As far as extras that you might want to have on the RV, it will depend on what it already has...but some good things to have are... black tank flush, solar (or solar prepped if you don't want solar), beefed up battery bank, fantastic fans throughout, covers for fans/vents, convection/microwave, 4 season package, etc....Some of these things you may think that you won't need, but it will be better to have than not to have. Your style of camping may change. When we started, we were not interested so much in boondocking or dry camping. so our RV purchases reflected more of the type that you go, plug in and sit in a resort. We still enjoy that, but we also want to be able to enjoy the other type of camping.

If you are already happy with a specific dealer, great. I will note that Costco has added RV purchases to their auto program. We bought our last car through Costco and were delighted with the dealer and the price. We didn't know that Costco did RVs when we purchased ours several years ago.

below is a link to the one we're really interested in and somewhat negotiated price is at $62k, not sure what all those option you mention cost but you think I can get those add-ons? Price for this model already seems fair and I'm guessing because they have 2016 coming in. I guess it worth a shot!

My opinion...turn them down even if they try to scare you to death with their tactics.

Other extras may be worthwhile...
Slide awnings is one that I like...but vigorously negotiate price for all of them.

X2...also add on covers for your roof vents.

Not sure if this counts, but I looked at several new trailers and some lots had a dealer prep fee, others didn't. Some of them were as high as $600 but included batteries and hoses in that prep fee. The common "features" were safety check, trailer prep, and an informative delivery session -- sorry but I feel that should all be a given, and I wasn't much interested in paying the dealer for what I believe should be something mandatory.

RVW does have some good prices on many things as do a few other dealers. But I would say the average dealer had either under-average products, over average pricing, or both!

APT, just wondering. Why did you say if you lived closer to RVW? We just ordered from them and will be there for our PDI. are their prices better than Amazon and eBay?
