1. Water - how to run off of RV park water, how to fill the tank, how to run off of tank water.

2. How to dump the black and gray water tanks

3. How to operate the refer on propane vs electricity

4. How to winterize it

5. What type of batteries does it have? 12V maintenance free or 6V that you have to check and add water to. If you have these, don't know it, don't check them and don't fill them, you'll be buying new batteries within two years.

6. For storage, do you have a real and true battery disconnect switch, if not, have one installed.

7. How the awning works

8. Hot water tank controls - how to operate it on gas vs electricity

9. How to use the weight distribution hitch

Go home, camp in it in the driveway for a weekend, not just one night.

Go to a camp ground, try things, if you have problems, as other campers.

This will get you started.

Every thing, button, switch, handle, everything should work. Ask what it does and then make them do it. Hot water is hot, TV works, fridge is cold.
We have been camping for years and had a few TT and our last walk thru took about an hour and a half. We got the last one about 1000 miles from home and had gust stopped to look. They gave us a good price so we bought it. It took 5 hrs from start to finish and money and signature were almost the last thing. Everything must work, no promises.

Exciting but nerve-racking. Fortunately we have tent camped for years so we have supplies. Considering everything we have to buy just for function, think we would go broke if we had to buy camp stuff also!

A few more items

1. Buy the adapters so you can plug into 110 Volts at home (don't try running the AC on it) and 50A in case an RV park doesn't have a 30A outlet.

2. I forgot, have them show you how to use the AC and the furnace.

Camcorder is a good idea....but let someone else (wife) do the video, you do the listening and asking.

Don't let the walk-through guy tell you and show you stuff...have him let YOU do the stuff. Actually get your hands on everything and operate it yourself. Watching and listening is ok....but doing is a better way to learn and remember.

Don't let your ego get in the way of asking and asking and asking until you are confident that you understand..

Congratulations on your first camper!!!! Make sure you have them turn on the furnace and the air conditioner. When we bought our camper, we were virgins too. We failed to have the dealer do those things. Our furnace worked fine but our air conditioner dripped inside terribly. Come to find out, the dealer never took the shipping material out and it was blocking the vents causing it to ice up inside and then drip when the ice melted. Also, have them explain where the valves are and which ones get turned off and which ones stay on when winterizing. When we went to get the camper ready for summer for the first time (bought ours in November and didn't use it until the following spring) It took us over an hour to find where the valves were. We had to remove a bottom kitchen drawer to see them. Then when you have questions after you have your camper, come back here and ask all the questions you need to. This site is chock full of wonderful people willing to help!

Tell them to turn on the fridge ahead of time so it is cold when you get there. Take a thermometer to check it. If it's not as cold as your home fridge, don't pay them until it is. Check this on both gas and propane.

You will need a torque wrench to check the TT lug nuts on the trip home. Especially important it the TT has aluminum wheels. Most will have a sticker close to the wheel well saying how often to check them for the 1st XX amount of miles. If not ask.

Take a tire pressure gauge to check the TT tires pressures as well as the TV tires. If you have a 12v or cordless compressor take it with you. TT tires should be inflated to the max pressure on the sidewall.

Check and see if the TT comes with a lug nut wrench. The TV one may or may not work depending on size. See if they have a jack that will work with the trailer or an Anderson EZ jack.

May or may not need tow mirrors depending on how your truck is equipped and your comfort level of towing.

Some systems on the TT work on 110, 12v and or propane. Make sure they work on each system not just one of them. Fridge for example as already mentioned.

Make sure all windows work as well as vent covers and fans.

congrats, and you won,t remember much but it all helps. theres so much to learn but its not hard. just keep asking questions on here we,ll all help. camp in the driveway a few times helps.
