Not to sound too hard but if 'camping' at Walmart & such places is necessary to do the trip maybe you might want to look at your travel budget.
We do Walmart, Cabelas, Bass Pro, Cracker Barrel etc. on occasion but only use them as an overnight in transit stop. The stop usually involves supporting that establishment in a monetary way also.
