Water heater question Lexington GTC class C

I am new to this motorhome and am confused about the water heater. I want to run it on electric but am unsure. There is a button in the convenience center that says water heater. Then on the side of the rv, behind the panel that has an on/off button. How do I just heat water on electric. Thank you

  • Old-Biscuit is 100% correct. The on/off switch on the outside is there mainly to save you a trip to the inside electrical panel when you are winterizing the water heater. By turning this switch off on the outside it is an easy way to make sure the electric element will NOT get power when you empty water from tank to perform winterization. It makes no difference which position your inside 120V switch is in if you turn off the outside switch you are safe to empty the tank (provided the LPG side of the system is turned off also). Good luck.

  • I had the same confusion on my Class C Chateau. It will have a switch at or near the kitchen sink that is the propane switch for turning it on. My electic switch is by the door and next to the generator start button. It took me about 1 hour to figure it out and trace what the switch was. As stated make sure the WH is full of water and I always heat it first by propane and then turn the electic switch on. It seems to heat faster on propane the first time.
  • Also you might look in the breaker box to see if one is labeled WH. All units do not come with electric elements.

  • IF..'on the side of the rv, behind the panel that has an on/off button' means the outside panel where burner assembly is......turn that ON/OFF switch to ON

Make sure water heater tank is full FIRST.
That should turn on the electric element

The ON/OFF switch in convenience center should be for propane
