- korbeExplorerWe turn ours on prior to a planned shower or dishes and turn it off when hot. Just part of our campin' process, not to save pennies. I can still have warm water in the morning while turned off all night.
- MikeInOregonExplorerMy water heater stays on all of the time when using propane or electric hookup. I'm trying to relax when camping. I don't want to think about the water heater being on or off.

I'm not into pinching pennies when it comes to camping.
Me 2 - tenbearExplorerMine is gas only and I turn it off except for showering. DW saves the dishes until shower time.
- NanciLExplorer IIOurs is gas and we just turn it on 20 minutes before using it
Jack L - mboppExplorerWhen dry camping I turn it off, it goes back on 20 minutes before I want it.
With hookups I run it full time on electric but will switch it to gas & electric if DW & I take back to back showers. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII leave mine on because I want HOT water when I want HOT water.
I'm not into pinching pennies when it comes to camping. - toedtoesExplorer IIII leave mine on. I like to wash my hands with hot water - it's a pain in the rear to go light the pilot light (my is manual) and turn on the water pump every time my hands get grimy... And then I end up having to wash everything I touched with the grimy hands. Much easier to keep the water heater and water pump on and just turn on the faucet.
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIIf you boondock for long periods of time, then turn it off when not using it. It doesn't need to heat all day long if you're not there. That wastes propane. Even when off the water stays warm for a long time.
- Boon_DockerExplorer IIITurn it on 20 mins before shower time then turn it back off again. Also heat water on the stove to do dishes instead of using the water heater.
