NY or NJ will kill you in taxes and license fees. Registering an RV out of state is doable, however you will not be able to keep it at home. Most states look for this sort of thing and love to write tickets. The reason i suggested a trailer instead is sq foot for the dollar and the dual use of your tow vehicle. Without towing a car behind your motor home you will be forced to either walk, bike, or not go places without moving the motor home. Sometimes that can be a real pain if you plan to spend a few days in one area, and want to site see. But you must do what is most comfortable for you.
