Ahhh, legal and productive new citizens-to-be who want to enjoy and be a part of our country. Please, come join our American family!
We have relatives in UK who visited a few years ago. They had the idea to drive across the country and see the sights.
They had difficulty realizing how HUGE the US is! In Europe, you can drive across most countries in a day. My home state of Pennsylvania is about 6.5hrs just to drive across it :)
Fuel prices are lower here, but you'll likely find you drive much more.
Have you ever been to New York City? Best to visit it before moving there. It is like its own little country.
North Carolina with your relative may be a good place to start. You can travel to NY or wherever, get your jobs, find a place to live, etc without mega-pressure.
Depending on the work you want to do and the lifestyle you want, you can find it all here :)
What a wonderful adventure you are about to begin!
