What determines the Class? A, C, Super C, B, B+, confused

What determines what Class the RV belongs to? It can't be length. I'm looking for something between 25 and 30 feet for wife and I. This will be our first RV. Want to travel around and explore USA ...

my unit per the factory was tagged a B but every body on here says its a C so in my opinion they can call them whatever they want. I don,t think there is a rule written in stone any where. buy the one that fits your life style.
