What determines the Class? A, C, Super C, B, B+, confused

What determines what Class the RV belongs to? It can't be length. I'm looking for something between 25 and 30 feet for wife and I. This will be our first RV. Want to travel around and explore USA ...

According to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), there are only three classifications, A, B, & C. A few years ago they changed the label from "Class" to "Type", apparently to be more politically correct.
