Started attending summer camp in the Catskills when I was 7 or 8 years old. where we backpacked, without tents most of the time. I loved it (the camp and the backpacking overnight camping trips). I continued that way until I bought a 1961 new-to-me VW camper. I loved the fact that I could go as far as I wanted and never have to worry about or be stuck for a place to sleep, eat, or hang out in the event of inclement weather.
Moved to California and back to backpacking for several years. An automobile accident rendered me unable to continue backpacking, so, I bought a new-to-me 1987 Westfalia; later a new-to-me Provan Tiger GT (pop top); then a new-to-me 2003 Pleasure-way (Dodge chassis), and now a new-to-me 2006 Pleasure-Way Plateau.
P.S. I'm still in touch with many of the people I attended camp with as a camper, counselor in training, and counselor some almost 60 years ago.
