Hi Curlysue321,
Many people change RV units as their needs change. When working (with a family) we had a travel trailer. Worked great for weekend camping. When the kids left home we got a small 5th wheel which we enjoyed. When we retired we purchased a small Motorhome (26ft). Your needs will likely change over time and if you don't buy a really expensive package then you should be able to change in a few years (if desired) without loosing too much money.
It sounds like you would like the space of a larger 5th wheel. It is (IMHO) less expensive per sq ft than a Motorhome with equal interior space.
However as retired persons, we like to travel and the Motorhome (for me) is easier to use. Often stay in truckstops, at Casinos, Walmarts, Forest Service campgrounds and having a fully self contained unit with built in generator is nice. We can also fit into locations where we couldn't with our 5th wheel. Just gives us a lot more options of where to go and ease of living enroute. Our thought process is that the older we get the smaller and easier to drive vehicle allows us to keep on RVing. So we keep going smaller and smaller. Wonder if one can RV in a powered wheel chair ;-).
It really depends on how you want to use the RV. No one size fits all and your needs may change over time. Wishing you the best.
