Our insurance is actually slightly cheaper with the motorhome & toad as we got rid of the dually & fiver and already had the toad. Gas usage is slightly more in the MH but it works out too be a better deal because the gas mileage with the toad is way better than the dually when driving around after we get to the campground.
Setup is a little faster (much easier) with the MH, but if you don't hookup to services it's way faster and you don't even need to leave the MH if you don't want to. For us staying a long time or moving frequently doesn't matter to us either way. Maintenance isn't much more with the MH.
I used to think mtrhomes were wasted space. NOT since I now have one :) I love your explanation of the driving area. Sun porch :) we store stuff like water by the pedals and cans of stuff. Not wasted space at all. I love the big picture windows...that's my favorite thing :)
