Whatever fits your needs. We are getting ready to trade our MH for a fifth wheel because we prefer the much better living accommodations over the marginal benefits of the MH.
Most people aren't out there traveling every single week. In fact most people spend very little time on the road. See what your needs are and what you prefer.
For us, the living space that we use 95% of the time > the minor benefits of being in our mH.
Faster setup? We are constantly getting******ready to move inside so it doesn't rattle. Our rig is very quiet but the other stuff makes noise if its not put away just right. That more than makes up for any perceived set up time advantage outside.
Get stuff while in motion? I'm the driver so no dice for me. Wife isn't incontinent and we stop every couple of hours anyway. Cooler works fine for the rest.
Car vs truck. Yup Mh wins here. We have vehicles at our sites so not a big deal for us and when we are on the road we use the truck and park further out. Gas is such a tiny amount of expense if that is your reason and it impacts your budget that much then you might want to consider something else. The expense is fairly insignificant. The times we could use the truck to move things or get something big more than outweigh its negatives.
Comfort and space inside. Fiver wins hands down. MH are big rectangles with a lot of wasted space because of doors / driver areas. This also limits creativity with floor plans on most units. You can't compare.
Stoarge. Interior storage a fiver smokes a MH. Exterior storage, if you aren't set up permanently the MH beats the fiver by a fair margin. We find that interior storage is more important the exterior for our needs but both should be able to fit everyone's needs. draw.
So ask yourself.
1. How long are you actually on the road on average
2. What is more important to you? Space inside while setup or some convenience while traveling
3. Can you deal with driving a truck around town while out? Can you have a second vehicle at your site etc?
See what works for you and what short comings you want to deal with.
