- CroweExplorerTread carefully. I just looked him up and if he's as successful a hypnotist as he purports to be I find it hard to believe he can't afford his apartment any more.
- NYCgrrlExplorerHard to lose a rent stabilized apartment in NYC but not as hard as losing a coop:(. Unless you are upside down mortgage wise which is close to impossible in the current market place but I digress.
Want to stay up North year round? Visit NYS' camping website; I'm sure you can goggle it. You'll find several winter camping sites.
You can also stay at Floyd Bennett Air Field which is part of the Fed's Gateway Area. No hookups and hard to reach by connecting highways but if you are already in NYC just travel Flatbush to the end and you'll be fine.
Yeah the dog days of August are up on us. Slept in Ft Tryon Park the other night to see the meteor shower; fun.
GL. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi countdevio,
I've camped at -37 c (-34 f) and have spent full winters in the great white north (Canada).
You have missed one important item--winterizing the fridge.
There is an excellent thread under the full time forum called winter camping. I'd suggest you read it carefully.
Coolmom42 he will need 30 amp if not 50 amp power. I heat 100% electrically and save the propane as a back up. - coolmom42Explorer IIMy recommendation would be to find somewhere with a covered shed that would keep the wind, snow and ice off, plus a 15-20 amp plug-in so you could have electric heat. Possibly a rural property with a barn or machine shed? Or a person with a large garage that would rent you space for the winter?
You could use a composting or cassette type toilet if you could find a place to put one. Get a gym membership with shower facilities.
