thinking of doing 2 6 volt batteries instead of a generator who has best prices or is it smarter to just buy another 12 volt battery and hook that up when other battery goes dead.It seems the 6 volt ...

Geneerally Sam's club, if you alrady are a member, Next is COSTCO but only in selected stores or by special order
If you do not mind reconditioned, Check out battery Reconditioning companies.
Finally watch for sales.. Sometimes a company has a sale that beats all competition.
And that company may be "Golf Cars Are us" type company (Generic name, far as I know no company actually uses it).
