It all depends on how much you want to protect your investment. I have mine in a covered storage and I pay about $120.00 a month. It will be more expensive the closer you get to an urban center.
How far is too far? How much is too much? Do you want to protect your RV from the elements?
If you want your trailer to go to hell, leave it uncovered and exposed to the wind, rain, sun, etc.
I know that people on here will say "Hey I've left mine uncovered for 20 years and it looks brand new" To that I reply: OK, whatever!

My 1971 Shamrock has never been covered or seen the inside of a building a day in it's life. Sure it's not super shiny but it is no where near "gone to hell". Still gets used once our twice a month between may and november. The only leak it ever had was when a tree branch broke the back window during the winter and snow got in. If you maintain your RV you can make it last forever, just like your house which never gets put inside either!
An investment means you normally get a return on your purchase/money. An RV or vehicle is not an investment, you lose money the moment you take it off the lot! A $30000 RV in ten years is worth not a whole lot! I hope people don't invest in there retirement like they do in RV's:S
