Who parks their RV at home or do you pay for storage?

I park for free about 1 minute from my home where I work part time at the golf course.
I did buy a heavy duty--10 mil-- white tarp from Home Depot on line and used a couple hundred feet of paracord to secure it. It withstood rain, wind and snow for the 6 weeks I monitored it. I've been out of the country for 5 weeks and will see if it held up. There was some pretty rough weather while I was gone.
I'm expecting that it will be OK.
