We have plenty of room to park at our house and I plan on buying or building a carport style cover for it sometime soon. If you're going to keep it at an uncovered location I think a good quality cover is worth it. If you store it uncovered, just make sure the roof is maintained and inspected yearly.
Let me say also that I'm thankful for the memories, and enjoyment that my "Investment" in RV's over the years has brought us. You don't measure all returns in dollars!
X3 on this!
I hear you on the monetary thing. Those memories are priceless but in the end they have nothing to do with the cost, condition or value of your RV.
My thoughts are practice preventive maintenance, keep the inside and outside as clean as possible But don't get carried away with it.
I purchased my RV to use it not to preserve it.
In the end the only way to get any value out of the RV is to use it regularly.
Washing, waxing, vacuuming, covering etc.maybe worthwhile practices. But actually taking a trip and using the RV is the only real way to get your monies worth
I can't consider a depreciating asset an investment.
I do keep my rig at home and use it as much as I can. I start March 1 and go until Dec.1. I try to extend the camping season on both ends to maximize my RV's value.
I understand many don't have the option to keep their rigs at home for many reasons. However if I could not keep my RV at home, I probably would not own one.
