Why are boondocking sites so hard to find online?

I've found searching for a good boondocking location very difficult online. Is that because they are like fishing holes? I.e., no one wants to share where the good spots are? What I'd like to fin...

Agreed.... it takes research - but we feel that's also a fun part of the trip. There is an excellent publication if you're an Escapee RV Club member called 'Day's End'. I believe it costs around $10 but you need to be a member first.
