I keep a mallet or axe inside by the door. Take your cell phone to bed in case you want to call 911. I met a woman at a campground who I'm now good friends with. She had a sign in her window "Beware of Dog" even though she had no dog. Another woman came to visit me once who traveled with a blow-up doll in the passenger seat. Just some common sense or creative things to help deter unwanted visitors (like the boots outside your door).

No reason not to come on down to the U.S., plenty of Canadians RVers here.
