- Scott_BlancExplorerCheck out GoodSamESP.com to learn the difference between an extended warranty and a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance policy and get a price on an alternative to extended warranties.
- camp-n-familyExplorerI'm usually in the boat that passes on extended warranties, but for an rv I would highly consider one. They can be so poorly and cheaply made these days you just never know.
My father bought a new Rockwood fiver 2 years ago on my recommendation. I had always heard decent things about them and had owned several in the past without problems. His has been nothing but a nightmare and has spent many months in the shop getting repaired under warranty, none of which would have been covered after the original 1 year. Next month it is going back to the factory to have the entire roof replaced! - Dtbow22ExplorerThanks a bunch...not going to bother discussing warranty with the dealer.
- deleted-2ExplorerNo don't bother with an extra warranty at the current cost of them.
- workhardplayha1ExplorerExtended Warranties are not actually a warranty. They are an insurance policy. If you are the least bit handy I would say no. In a new unit you should not have any big ticket items go bad.
The way I look at it is by buying a "warranty" all the members pay for all the expenses of the combined repairs and the administrative cost of Warranty Company.
These companies love when owners of ew RV's join up because they will need your money to pay the repair cost of the older units that they cover. - campn4walleyeExplorerNOOOOOOOO!
As it turns out, most of these are not indorsed by the BBB. We found out the hard way, when trying to recoup $$ from our ext warranty on our car (that was part of the deal). Turns out they went out of business and they got our $$$ and we're out of luck.
Not worth it. JMO
