I, personally, am a Yeti type camper and having just acquired them, I have 2, I swear by them. The Yeti, like any other cooler, will consume ice over a period of time. The Yeti, even empty, is heavier than most coolers. The Yeti cost a lot more than most coolers. Bottom line! It IS worth it!!!! Unless you like to plug things in and run power cords every where, I'd opt for the portability, durability, and performance of a Yeti.
But back to your basic inquiry about milk. 4 Gallons in a cooler/fridge? Have you ever considered "shelf milk"? Google it or even do a search on this forum. Don't now the economics of it, nor have I tried it, but understand the shelf life is very long until opened. And it come in various fat content (2%, etc). Just a thought that could save you some bucks by not having to buy and extra cooling unit.
