I freeze bottles of Ozarka water and use them for my ice. I also take quart freezer bags, filled them about 3/4 of the way full of water and freeze them.
The advantage of the Okarka water bottles is that after they melt I have cold water to drink- I carry them in the ice chest in my Polaris RZR.
Back when I was a kid (40 years ago) we had a galvanized steel color and we would buy a big block of ice from the ice house. It would last all weekend and when we needed ice for our drinks we chipped off pieces with an ice pick. I think they weighed 20 lbs.
And stick with good old cow's milk...............
