Barney, great story. I am a "platinum" professional. When I filled mine up with diesel, I realized it as I hung up the nozzle. Spent the next 6 hours in their parking lot siphoning out 27 gallons of diesel. Lesson learned, not all green nozzles are diesel...what was I thinking.

Kitty litter is not only a GREAT dehumidifier, it can also be used to extend your supply of flour when baking. Substitute it 1:1 for flour AND baking soda.

Really? Anode rods in a fresh water tank is an amateur "what was I thinking" moment. To really get to the professional level,put gasoline in your diesel tank or DEF in your diesel tank. I am working up to putting the water hose in my diesel tank.

I think we have all fallen into this category at one time or another.

Op here...Don't know what material he used. He thought he was doing the right thing at the time.

However, we went thru a new magnesium rod in about 5 months in Yuma last year. Place where we stay is on a well, not city water. But actually magnesium pretty good for you. But I don't really know if one anode rod in 5 months is OK or not:)

Hmm, were the rods aluminum, or magnesium? Any idea what made him decide to remove them? I'm thinking if he just filled the tank with a really powerful acid, all he would have to do is wait a little bit and problem solved. Of course then he would want to dump the acid into his home septic system to "clean" that out. Get rid of those pesky little microbes in there at the same time ;)

Yea, I have a "What was I thinking" moment almost every day .... every time I turn on my computer and bring up these forums! What was I thinking when I created a User ID, and now I'm so gosh-dang-addicted to this site! What WAS I thinking?

Anode rod pieces would cause no issue.......either from them being in tank to using the water.
The small pieces of steel rod left behind might as they rust out but size of tank and dilution would take care of that.

Dilution is the solution to pollution after all.
