I consider myself a person of color. In RVing, we "stick out" like a sore thumb. But, I never thought it was the fault of white people. Yes, I believe there's a whole lot of "white supremacists". And, I believe a good many of them have a higher-than-average IQ. I believe in the science of it. If it's a problem, we're not going to solve it anytime soon. Some of us really like RVing, some of us not so much. Also, it might be that there's more white people who like it AND can afford it.
What I don't understand is why there's so many white RVers who believe that a front tire blowout has the capability of pulling the front of the motorhome to the side. Of course, part of the answer is that there's more white RVers. (humor)

It sounds like they want to push people who don't want to camp to go camping.

No, it looks like a group seeking a solution to a problem, but a problem not recognized by many people. Very similar to what also wasn't really considered a problem in the 50's and 60's: segregation. Just because there's no "White Only" signs doesn't mean that non-whites will feel at ease in these surroundings.

Sounds like the OP is looking to stir a pot that does not exist. I have no use for that kind of talk when it affects something I enjoy doing. There is enough politics and political correctness on the outside without trying to get some controversy started in a pretty decent group here on this forum.

They choose not to.
For some it may be economic, for a few others it's too close to things their families recently left behind, and for the majority, life with "all the modern conveniences" is preferable.

And you know that because you're a minority. Right? And heaven knows that's the way "they" like it.

I wonder how many people who have contributed to this thread actually can speak of their experiences from a non-white viewpoint? Perhaps the very lack of insight of all these posters is part of the problem.

As far as the poster who commented that "they're not interested & therefore a lot of places don't even have baseball fields any more." It's very possible that the reverse is true. I have no factual data to back it up. I don't live in the inner city and cannot comment on why there are no baseball fields.

I do know that if I were black, or Hispanic, the overwhelming number of white people in a campground could be very offputting. I know there's no racists on this forum, but people notice when someone "different" appears. Usually the conversation starts "I saw a black couple down on site 102", then the direction just depends on the people involved. Either downhill into racial jokes, or passive with "I don't have a problem with it", black people just don't like to camp type thing.

From what I read the industry is trying get to the point where people who aren't white aren't going to feel "out of place" when they show up at a mostly-white campground.

I wonder how many people here would feel uncomfortable pulling into a campground with mostly black people who have reserved many sites for a rally. Suddenly the shoe is on the other foot. And amazingly enough, it pinches a bit.

Maybe it's just Denver. Went to the RV show in Mobile, Alabama last year and it appeared to be about 50% minority. Or was she talking about the vendors. While the shoppers in Mobile were a pretty even mix, the vendors were all white.

Sounds like normal bull from the left coast. Why not just let everyone have the interest and hobbies they like instead of trying to force others into their way of thinking.
