I love it when a bunch of hetero white men state there is no racism. That everyone has the same opportunity to do and achieve the same things and it's just because others are too lazy or not interested in doing so. And that any time someone suggests inclusion, they are simply making up a problem.
Keep the status quo because if these other folks start camping WE won't have a campsite when WE want it.
I would love more inclusion in camping and RVing. Some of the best things I've done have been improved because of new ideas brought by different people. And this is one area that is so ready for new ideas and new people.
We go RVing, or in every day life we're not interested in this --!
We don't want involved. Leave us out of it and everyone gets along fine.
I have enough as everyone else to worry about, without taking on this. - toedtoesExplorer III

However from another angle, let people do whatever they want to do, if they want to RV fine if they don't fine.
Why do some feel it is necessary to bring race and controversy into everything.
RV Mfg Associations etc, apparently want to get into race thinking they can increase sales with this idea, a very bad idea. Perhaps, looking into my crystal ball, they will give them the idea they must get into it.
All they have to do is to market to targeted groups as every other business does and not make it a social issue and controversy!
The manufacturers and Dealers know this so this whole idea this whole controversy, the people in this article, are introducing, has nothing to do with selling more RVs and supplies etc!!!IMO
Considering the quality issues of RVs and the everyday complaints about them here on this forum, maybe bringing in different people is EXACTLY what the industry needs. They sure aren't making a great product as it stands now. - toedtoesExplorer IIII love it when a bunch of hetero white men state there is no racism. "Bottom line. even though we told them how much fun it is, and how economical it can be. how every one gets along. The answer was no. Most of the minorities have absolutely NO interest in camping in any shape or form. Especially when we talked about Bears, Coyotes, and Wolves."

I consider myself a person of color, and I can tell you with authority, I do NOT camp where there's bear, or wolves. But, my wife and I love to travel in our Dutch Star. I also do NOT fly in airplanes unless I'm the pilot in command. Safety FIRST.
We do camp in the woods, and yes there are bear there, and we have heard the Wolves in the distance. I didn't tell them about the animals to scare them, just to let them know they are there. And truthfully. My work buds had no interest before they knew about the bears. That was just icing on the cake. My point is. the people of color I worked with care nothing about camping. Now, fishing is a whole nother story.
FYI. Where I live there are Bears, and coyotes. So it ain't like they are something new while camping - irishtom29Explorer

This racist stuff is getting old.
It IS old, since 1619 if you only count the English colonies. - dodge_guyExplorer II

Middle aged white guy here thinking out loud. If I checked into a campground that was 95% black would I feel uncomfortable and out of my comfort zone.........
Then you haven’t been to Indiana beach! I was and I can tell you the minority is well shown there! I have no problem with it, but others might.
As I said, it’s a group looking for an issue so they can come up with a solution to something that isn’t a problem!!! - fj12ryderExplorer III"This kind of manufactured 'problem' is the stuff that's actually keeping our country down from where we'd otherwise be."
Believe it or not, this is almost word for word what my father used to say about the efforts at integration in the 60's. - HappytravelerExplorerI actually see more minorities camping than I see on the beach and majority of beaches are free. This racist stuff is getting old.
- PowertourExplorer IIUpon looking deeper at their claims/stats....
The rates are consistent with population percentages. There is no tire mountain fire to see, stop with it already.
fAlso, when you go thru life & the main 'tool' you have in your life is the 'it's racist hammer' nearly everything you experience/see looks like a racism nail that needs pounded. Even more so when it's been demonstrated time & time again there's big money in it.
Fact is there's no BARRIER to anyone camping. People just need to get off their dead ass & go out & do it. That takes some EFFORT (dedicating time/planning to do it & saving up to do it). Other than handing x-groups everything on a silver platter it's on them to make it happen (as it is for everyone else). I've yet to set foot any any private or public land, campground, or beach where there were white folks lined up in KKK garb standing watch to prevent minorities from being there. This kind of manufactured 'problem' is the stuff that's actually keeping our country down from where we'd otherwise be.
