I have a melitta funnel that uses full sized conical filters that are available everywhere. The funnel also has a rigid tube about 1" diameter and 2" long that fits inside a narrow mouth Stanley thermos. The coffee stays hot most of the day and in addition because it is not overheated and not expose to air, it tastes great hours later.
I am rarely hooked up to 120v power so I have no interest in any sort of standard electric coffee brew system. A percolator makes the worst coffee known to man because it constantly recycles and boils the coffee. I do not like a French press because it is messy to clean and does not adequately filter the coffee.
I have never understood why coffee bags, similar to tea bags, have not become popular. It seems a great way to make a single mug of coffee. They are hard to find, the choice of coffee is limited when available and they are expensive.
I've been known to brew a pot of "Cowboy Coffee". Boil water, insert ground coffee, let steep. Splash in a couple teaspoons of cold water or an ice cube. The last will make the grounds sink to the bottom of the pan. Pour and enjoy!
