? "Best" Coffee Maker?

What's the "best" coffee maker and why?
What is it made of?...Aluminum? Glass? Stainless? or _________?
What "type"?
- Drip
- French Press
- Moka
- Percolator
- Pourover
- Vacuum

I long ago got in the habit of being lazy, taking the easy & convenient path to making my morning coffee. Keurig at home, a thermos of instant for work. I've long since passed the point in life where I should be making a better cup on weekends and vacation days in the RV. Other than the Keurig the kids gave us a few years ago, we haven't had a "real" coffee maker in over 35 years - a Mr Coffee drip machine we got as a wedding present. A few weeks ago I started looking at coffee makers in stores (box and specialty) & online and it's a bit overwhelming...
  • Percolator on the stove. The trick is not to let it boil over or overperk. Once it first starts to perk, we turn the burner down as low as possible and let it gently perk for 8 minutes. We use the same coffee we use at home, Cameron's gold.

Sometimes we use a French press, but it is always such a mess to try to clean up the grounds.
  • I use a standard Costco sourced Mr. Coffee when on electric. I use an Amazon sourced "Clever Coffee Dripper" when off the grid. Both use disposable filters for easy cleanup.
  • at home keurig (only because were lazy) camping a good old fashioned tin percolator. far better coffee just takes time.
  • We drink a lot of coffee, and we've found the best setup for us is a very basic Mr Coffee drip coffeemaker that sells for about $15. With nothing but an on/off switch, there's very little to fail. After making a 12-cup pot, we store it in an insulated carafe for instant dispensing as needed. With the top opening access, when we don't have power and can't or don't want to start the generator, we just heat a pan of water on the stove and pour it through the grounds basket.
  • Good old fashioned PERCOLATOR with a good quality coffee.
We tend towards eight o clock. There are better brands BUT as we travel around the country we find eight o clock available at all WALMART'S we have been in. Sometimes we give up a little better for consistency
  • My reply would be anything that doesn't require a generator to make.
  • We use Keurig at home and one in the RV

Try different K-cup brands and flavors until you find what you like.

My DW likes the Hazelnut and Vanilla flavored coffee.

I don't drink coffee but use it for hot chocolate and ice tea. Haven't tried the Campbell soup cups yet.
  • The best is one that does not require anything but propane and is made of stainless steel. Here's one similar to the one we use:
