All depends on the camping experience. Boon, campground, backwoods basecamp or canoe camping. - portscannerExplorer

Boil water and use a French Press. Much better than a 12 volt and will make better coffee. We keep one the trailer in case power is out.
X2! - BedlamModeratorWhen we're on electric, I set the coffee maker to wake me up in the morning. Awakening to the smell of fresh brewed coffee is a nice rise and shine. Our stove top hasn't been used for anything but bleeding the LPG lines.

Find a nice old percolator for the top of the stove. If you cannot find an old percolator try KMART

I vote this is the best advice. I just cannot see running hot liquids thru any kind of plastic appliance. All it does is brew added polyvinyl chlorides into the coffee from plastic. There is already enough cancer in a lot of our friends and other Americans around us.
Just make sure the coffee pot has a glass bubble on the top.
Camping is for getting a break from any kind of normal routine so we stove top perc also. It's a lot of fun in the anticipation and learning to get it just right. - JiminDenverExplorer IIWe bought a little 12v auto drip for on the road many years ago, it took at least 30 minutes and the coffee was terrible. A few years back I used it to load out solar system but instead of plugging it into a cigarette light outlet, I hooked it directly to the battery. The brewing time was cut from 30 minutes to 10. So there is a possibility the wiring has a lot to do with how these preform.
To add we have used a cone filter for decades until we couldn't find the number 6 filters. Then we started using the filter basket from a bunn coffee maker, it worked just as well. Last year with the solar and all we used a 120v drip pot and this year it will be the Bunn because it keeps the water hot and I can make a silent pot pre dawn and not reheat the tank until the sun comes up. - pcoplinExplorer III used to use a French Press while camping. But the cleanup every morning gets old. Now I just boil water and use Starbucks Via packets. Very good coffee for what they are.

Guess we're really low class, just hot water and instant coffee in leaded and unleaded with some Stevia for him and a little of the brew with my Creamer and Stevia for me and we're good. Two cups each max and off we go. Pretty simple.
Personally, I can barely stand instant coffee. I will say, the inmates in the California Dept of Corrections drink it. Other than when they are in the chow hall, it is their only choice. - trailgranny50ExplorerGuess we're really low class, just hot water and instant coffee in leaded and unleaded with some Stevia for him and a little of the brew with my Creamer and Stevia for me and we're good.
