? Concrete Pad Question

How thick a concrete floor/pad is needed to park a 14K 5er?
Not looking to get into arguing over whatever the detailed engineering specifics are. Just want a general idea how much concrete I'll be buying if I decide to concrete the barn floor.
  • Have you tried to determine what you need via the web since you don't want a concrete engineer involved? Doesn't soil type matter too? I'm seeing estimates of four to five inches for cars, five to six for heavy trucks (whatever that means) etc. with a "good" soil base.
  • Driveways are generally 6-inches thick. Commercial driveways 8-inches thick.
  • A 4" thick pad would be considered standard with normal rebar and reinforcing steel, but to thicken the area where the trailers wheels will set to 5 or 6 would not be a bad idea. You can spread the weight from the landing gear with simple lumber before dropping the gear.

we built a new concrete drive for our 26,000-lb MH a year or so ago. assuming that we might later acquire a larger/heavier MH we overbuilt the drive. as i recall we have 6-7 inches of concrete plus rebar.
