You can make your own screens out of hardware cloth similar to the ones for the furnaces and the water heater. Just make sure that they are pan shaped so they give more surface area for air to flow through that you will lose with screen wire. That's why the ones for the water heater and the furnace arer pan shaped so that you don't restrict are flow.
