? Which SS Percolator Campfire Coffee Pot ?

Looking for recommendations: good-if-not-excellent quality stainless steel campfire percolator coffee pot. Willing to pay for quality.

We really enjoy sitting around the nighttime campfire with friends and a pot of coffee. We had a real nice what I'd call safari-type pot but it grew legs and walked away, and we haven't seen another like it anywhere. We inherited it from my Dad and it was easily +50yo when it walked away. (Not all new campground friends are good friends.) The past few years we've tried & discarded at least one pot a year, we find them either waaaay too cheaply made or too difficult to handle when hot.

We've checked out the outdoors & camping stores, seems they all have pretty much the same stuff. Box stores the same in even poorer quality.

Searched Amazon, etc, but it's real hard to judge by the picture, description and user comments. Really need to see/handle it myself.

FWIW we bring the kitchen Keurig for in-trailer use. Good as it is, there's no fireside romance with the Keurig.
  • I just bought a 70,s glass percolator. It can't go on the fire but it is awesome watching the whole percolating process and not to mention...it makes great tasting coffee. I bought it on ebay. tons of old percolators to choose from.
  • We've found that simply heating water and then slowly pouring it into the top of a coffee maker does a fine job and keeps the coffee pot clean.

And when camping with electric, we just plug it in!

We did buy a stainless tea kettle to reheat it on the stove if boondocking.

Not exactly the question you asked, but it may open up some options for you. Handles and soot are the main reasons for this.
  • You may have to check out garage sales and thrift shops to find anything the quality of the one that walked.

We do not perc our coffee, we use a SS french press. We have an old kettle that sits on the fire water is hot for coffee, hot chocolate and tea.
