1000 lbs bars with 500 tongue weight
I bought a used trailer and it came with 1000 lb bars, but the tongue weight fully loaded and ready to go is 500 lbs. thoughts? Order smaller bars, or keep the free heavy ones?

x2. at least give them a try. FWIW, if you look at the "recomended range" for various bars, it's quite wide.
For example reese lists 1200lb bars good for 600 to 1200lbs tongue weight and the 800lb bars good for 400-800 lbs.
