1/2 ton truck towing question

Why be unsafe and uncomfortable/stressed towing? As you already experienced, buy a truck for your next RV, not the current one. I ended up getting a one ton for my 5th wheel then later added a truck camper. Glad I did because I didn't have to upgrade trucks.

You can't increase the capacity of a vehicle.

You live in Florida. Biggest hill is a freeway off ramp. Highest altitude is just above flood stage. A newer decent equipped half ton will do ok. And you won’t break your rear axle. But it won’t be the ideal setup and she’ll struggle in the mountains.

It's not illegal to do what you are asking. Smart?!?!? As you notice, lots of conjecture on this.
Reality, unless we know what version brand of truck you have, you may have the payload etc you need, possibly the HP power train. But reality,incorrect gearing per say.
I would chime in, generally speaking an 8 lug 25 series truck is the better option for a 10k trailer. With this said, ford has a HD 150 setup to do this well, GM has a few 1500 setups that also would tow a trailer of this wieght fine.

You will likely be over the rating. It might ride level but still over the rating. You will have to be OK with that. Can't recommend spending money into this situation.

It may the only option you have but it’s the wrong option. Wrong for you, your family, your truck.

The capacity of the current vehicle can not be increased.

That’s what I was afraid of. I purchased this truck in 2018 to tow my current TT and now that we’re upgrading I really don’t want to purchase another truck unless it’s the only option. I would rather try and increase the capacity of the current vehicle.

GVWR of a truck is what it is. You can't increase it beyond the design specs of the manufacturer.
You can add all sort of gee-gaw to improve the handling with heavy loads, but that won't increase the GVWR.

For towing that kind of a load (9000lb +) I'd want a 3/4 ton or better truck.
