When my kids started driving, I did something with each and every one, male and female.
I took them outside, pointed to a tire, and said "That is flat, you have no cell phone service, change it." (I made sure they all had a cross-arm lug wrench in their trunk when they started driving.) Then I stood back and coached. I made them get out the spare and jack, remove the tire, put on the tire (I did let them put the unflat original back), and get it road worthy again.
I told them that they may never have to change a tire, but now they know how if they HAVE to.
Also, at their next oil change, I gave them a set of coveralls and, yep, you guessed it, made them change their own oil. The girls, once, the boy, from then on.
Food for thought.
An addendum:
My 5'1" cute as a button 19 year old daughter was at work one day when a coworker was going from cubicle to cubicle asking if anyone had jumper cables. She skipped my daughter. When she got about 3 cubicles down, my daughter yelled that she had jumper cables. The coworker and other workers stared wide-eyed at her. The coworker asked if she knew how to use them. She said "Of course!" and went out to get the coworker's car started. No one in the office could believe my daughter could do that. She is the classic "blonde", including having blonde hair.
