1996 to 1999 vintage Jeep Cherokee?

Question

We are getting back to RVing after a few years traveling the East Coast waterways. We have an opportunity to pick up a late 90's Cherokee but, even though we haven't purchased our next RV yet, I want to make sure it is towable. The MH Towing Guide "only" goes back to 2000 and it is towable. I am guessing the earlier ones are too but thought I'd check.

AFAIK, it is towable.However, I strongly recommend that you find the Owners Manual online and read what it has to say about it.then you will KNOW!

We used to tow a 4x4 97 Jeep Cherokee four down. We just put the transfer case in Neutral and left a key in the ignition to leave the steering unlocked.

You would also need to know if it is a Cherokee, or a Grand Cherokee, and which transmission it has

Cherokees (XJs) will be SelecTrac or CommandTrac.Grand Cherokees (WJs) will be QuadraTrac.
