2-1/2" WD Shanks???
Who uses a 2-1/2" shank instead of the adapter sleeve, and what brand shank did you get for what brand hitch assembly? We have a Reese trunnion system, and wonder how their #54977 shank is? Or do y...

I make it a habit to remove it when I pull the hitch, but know what you mean so tha k you for the reminder! Buddy forgot to remove his and for a factory sleeve it was something like $35!!! ??
I usually leave the hitch in until I get home and unhooked unless we end up running to town for something.
Just trying to decide if a solid or cast shank is the best way to go..... And which brand? Did notice on Etrailer Blue Ox has a solid shank. Need to verify the drop I currently have. Had a deep drop Reese for the old trailer, but between the new(er) trailer and new HD not as much drop is needed. May still get the larger drop for the "if needed in the future" I will be all set.
