2 feet too long

Considering a new truck as a dingy that puts me 2 feet too long at 67 feet. I hear that California is nasty about this. Seems that towing a pickup would draw less attention than a trailer. Any thoughts?

    Not true. Length is not reciprocal. As to the OP's question, I agree with the other posters who say don't worry too much about it. Obey speed and other moving laws and you won't get pulled over and measured.

  • The limit in CA is 65ft. I just attended the FMCA rally in Indio where many participants had combinations in excess of 65ft. If your not commercial you will not need to pull through weigh stations, so it would require an officer to pick you out of the crowd and measure your rig. If you speed, drive in the wrong lane, or otherwise call attention to yourself you may experience problems. But hay, you can tootle down the road puffing on a reefer, eating lunch and painting your nails without a care.
    Happy Trails.
  • My info says 65 feet, in most states being over is no big deal. I have heard of drivers being forced to unhook anything too long and after three warning they may impound the trailer in Calif. It is hard to not go to CA or pass through.
  • I don't know where you got this info, but it's bunk. There is no way any CHP can tell that you are two feet too long....unless they pull you over for something else and then get out the measuring tape!

    I sure wouldn't worry about it.

  • A couple of thoughts;
    1. Don't worry about it, the chance of an RV getting pulled over and measured is pretty slim.
    2. If CA is measuring RVs, don't go there.
