You pick the trailer. Next check the truck manufacturers tow specs for the truck, not the sticker on the door jamb. Go by the manufacturers ratings only. They built the truck and if you are in an accident the court will rely on the manufacturers ratings because that is the most accurate.

I have the same truck, except I have a 4.10. My payload is just over 1,900 pounds. I do not believe you are going to have enough payload capacity to tow a fifth wheel.

Below the 'regular half ton' GVWR at 6.8K

Regular 'half ton' is in the mid 7K's

Meaning that this OP's 'half ton' has a bit lower capacity than a 'regular half ton'...

Good plan. Your payload would probably be around 1500lbs. Your load capacity label is a separate sticker (lot of yellow) with your tire size and PSI numbers on it. Probably on the driver's door post. Identical to APT's picture.

There are two numbers on the driver's door jamb sticker that would provide a lot of info. One is the GVWR, and the other is the payload number. Can you provide those two numbers?

More than once, it was suggested that you find the payload amount.
You have yet to provide that number.
that is key in determining whether even a small 5th wheel is possible.

You'll probably think it handles just fine and run it like that for a couple of years. So long as you keep up on the maintenance nothing bad will happen, probably.

How much does your Tire and loading sticker say you have for as equipped payload? Driver's door or doorjam - note what yours has where mine says 2051:



That has to include loaded pin weight, the 250 pound slider hitch in the bed, and all people and cargo in cab and bed. I think yours should in in the 1800 pound range, which is not enough for a 10k pound loaded 5er. In fact, 7400 pounds dry TT will be 8500-9000 pounds with 1100-1200 pounds of TW. You may not have enough payload for that and check your receiver rating too.
