2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ 4-cylinder Curb Weight

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know the curb weight of a 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ 4-cylinder. I'm looking into buying it and using it 4-wheels down with our RV, but I need to know its weight. Chevy tells me the following regarding the 2010 Malibu:
For the curb weight of the 2010 Malibu (lb. / kg.):
3415 / 1549 (LS)
3436 / 1550 (LT)
3649 / 1655 (LTZ w/ V-6).

But the car I am interested in has an ECOTEC 2.4L DOHC, 16-valve, 4-cylinder Variable Valve Timing MFI engine, and I have a max of 3500 lbs. curb weight with my RV. If anyone knows how to verify the weight of this car, I'd certainly appreciate it.

  • Well, I will try to contact Chevrolet again tomorrow during working hours, but the only thing I can figure regarding the way that the trim and weight combinations were presented is that the LTZ with the 4-cylinder engine is essentially the standard LT package combo and the curb weight will be around the 3436 number for the LT. The LTZ / V-6 combo will understandably be heavier. I agree, though, that in the end only weighing the car will give the real value, but I'd like to hear what Chevrolet has to say.

Thanks for all your feedback and comments.

Find the yellow black loading and tire sticker on drivers doorjamb.
Then find the GVWR sticker weight on drivers door.
Subtract the carrying capacity from GVWR you will be within 20 to 40 lbs. for the true curb weight.
Not always correct....Like I said, my 05 was over 600# heavier than what GM said it was. The ONLY correct weight info is a scale ticket.

  • Yeah, I thought of that. I was just surprised that this trim/engine combination wasn't listed in the official Chevy literature. There is a CAT Scale not far from this dealership, so if I don't get lucky with an answer on here and it comes down to that, I'm sure they won't mind me taking it there.
  • The only way you are going to get an true curb weight is head to a scale. GM is notorious for fudging on curb weight. My last GM vehicle was listed at 5050# curb weight, when scaled, the true weight was on the north side of 5600# ready to tow. I have not scaled this one, as I am now set up to tow a 10K# toad, so don't care.
