2013 Focus lights and break-away switch

After towing our 2013 5-speed Focus over 5,000 miles, I think I can safely say the wheel does not lock.

Thanks Nick. I'm sure the 5-speed version is the same.
Even my Dealership, who is generally pretty good, doesn't really know.

There is no steering lock on the 2012/2013 Ford Focus Automatics.

Strange, I've been towing 4-down for 11 years. A Ford Contour was my first toad, and now, depending on need, I have a 2007 Chevy HHR and a 2011 Ford Ranger 4WD.

NEVER heard of a breakaway anything...simply the tow-bar and the baseplate.Now, I'm presuiming this IS 4-down..and not a dolly. At any rate, the HHR has the diode system, and the Ranger uses the magnetic lights. Both work just fine.
Should the diodes ever fail, the magnetic lights go on.

What about the steering column lock?
Doesn't a 2012/2013 Focus have one?

Couldn't find an answer before and I'd like to know before
I tow mine. It'd sure make things a lot simpler.

OK, looked at Blue Ox install and understand the 'Posts' Like I said, I'm going Roadmaster. I will figure out brakeaway when I have the bottom open.

I have a Blue Ox set up I use a 7-wire connector to my 2012 SE and it powers all the rear lights. I bolted the break-away under and behind the front grill, and I power my Brake Buddy with a rechargeable 12 volt power pack, I don't remember what size pack it is, I don't have it at home, but I do know it is one rated to start a V-8 that has a dead battery. Also, the procedure for towing an automatic is simple, you put it in neutral and take off the negative cable at the post, and off you go, couldn't be much simpler.

I'm not using the socket mounting posts near the center of the grill for getting electric to the Focus. Those posts are where I mount the breakaway switch.

check out Tow Daddy. This is what I used. I installed the module under the mat where the spare goes. Pretty easy install and works flawlessly. TOW DADDY.COM I believe. We pull a 2012 auto with pb start and have had o problems. Larry
