Our dingy, as well as our every day driving vehicle, is a 2013 Ford Edge Limited which we have towed on a few 600 mile trips without a problem. Before that we towed a 2009 Ford Edge without battery issues until the battery got older. Then it would sometimes be dead after a long trip. The owner's manual had not mentioned anything about starting the car periodically during a trip. The MotorHome Dingy Towing Guide said the car should be run at every fuel stop or about every 250 miles or words to that effect. Following those directions and a new battery solved the problem.
