- DaveG39ExplorerI had Blue Ox taillight wiring installed. It is completely separate from CRV wiring and connects to the tow connector. Works for me.
- Beverley_KenExplorerWe just added a 2nd set of bulbs, totally independent of Honda. Honda dealer has tried to deny warranty work on electrical issues saying that the 'toad' wiring has affected the Honda wiring. had to show them that they were not connected, before they repaired a front turn signal issue. They are still balking at replacing the CRV battery, goes dead if car not used for 3 or 4 days (summer).
Beverley and Ken - obgrahamExplorerAt least in the older CRVs there was an unused section in the tail light assembly. Into that you install a completely separate bulb for towing. Saves messing with the car's light circuits. I understood the latest CRVs still had that feature.
- trop-a-calExplorerMost times you just get a generic and splice in as per instructions using a diode so current does not go back to the CRV's electrical system. Since both directional and brake lights are the same from RV you use the red stop light wire for both, as the amber is not qualified as a brake. The harness goes all the way back to the tail lights and is not hooked to the front of the CRV electrical system.
