OK people in the know....what all do I need? Planning on using the Blue-OX bar thats on the back of the motorhome and getting the Blue Ox baseplate for the front of the CRV.Any other major items? And of you RVers have such a towd and if so what do you think of them??Sully

The newer CRV's have much more parasitic battery drain loads on them than prior models. Its the radio fuse you must pull, which does a lot more than disconnect the radio.A battery charge line or a fuse disconnect switch is a must.I went the disconnect switch route simply because I have a 5 pin connector on the back of my coach with no 12V hot lead.The disconnect switch works perfect and I built it myself for less than 12.00 bucks link above.

Just remember that driving over 65 will fry the transmission

I shall uncoil it and put it to use for the CRV though. Thanks for reminding me

While the tow instructions do say that 65 IS the limit, I exceeded it several times, and at times, for several miles at a time due to conditions and circumstances at the time. It wasn't a habit, it just happened on an infrequent basis. Ours was an '11 CRV AWD EXL W/Nav and that trans worked flawlessly, day in and day out, before and after the "Over 65 incidents". Interesting, I just flipped over 6000 miles. The little wrench on the dash panel now comes on every time I start the car indicating oil change , oil life left is 15%
You hit the trip reset button and it goes away.
The owners manual states this comes on somewhere below 15% oil life left and you can make it go away by pushing the trip reset button. However it will stay on constantly when the oil life reaches 0%
I am thinking about an early oil change as this is just slightly annoying, pushing this trip rest button every time you start the car.

Ok, if I put a switch to disable the radio to prevent battery drain, will the accessory plug still be hot so that I can use it with my Brake Buddy?

No. I just went out and tested mine. When I flipped the switch the accessory plug by the cup holders as well as the one below in the glove box both died.

A dedicated accessory plug will have to be run from the battery direct.

Looks like I keep my 2002. It is still in good shape and I won't have to deal with these stupid electronics.

You could solve the issue by adding a charge line from the MH to the CRV. You wouldn't have to pull the fuse or worry about a dead battery.

I just got a 2011 Honda CRV 'opalescent sage' according to some. I found the Honda Electric service manual online. That fuse is #34 and powers the radio, and the two plugs up front. Am looking at towbar & plates now. Seems that Blue Ox needs more cutting of the plastic than the Roadmaster. Can you mix and match base plates and towbars? Looking at the Blue Ox Patriot for brake shoes, and tail light converter to split out turn signals. Will pull with Lazydaze 31 IB when factory done with it.

Slightly different subject. The AWD version of the CRV is an "all wheel drive" model....BUT....how can you tell if the AWD is working?? There is a light that lights up if it ISNT working...but that might not always be the best way!!

No switches to turn on or horns to beep or ??...nothing. I guess it just does it automatically or ??

Driving on snow (lots of recent experience) you get some experience with this. There is a yellow triangle symbol on the dash that comes on when a wheel is slipping and you get a grinding like sound when the other wheels pick up the slack. I think it's a situation where it only engages when a wheel loses traction. I don't know if that just the AWD or the variable traction control (or what ever they call it).

Driving the CRV in snow is great compared to previous cars I've owned. Anti-lock brakes and the AWD makes is so much safer.

I have a 2013 that I set up with a charge line and a SMI brake system (gas, so it is the stay-n-play, but the make the air force 1 for diesels). Wonderful setup. Just throw a switch to turn the toad brakes on or off. Nothing to move or worry about. With over 3000 miles of towing, it has been flawless.
