2014 Jeep Cherokee Tires

I now have 40,000 odometer and pulled miles on the Jeep. Came with Continental tires - brother in law said I need new tires
Do you think that is the case - If I took it to a tire shop I am sure they would say yes - no uneven wear on them

  • rr... Downtheavenue's post was actually very helpful to you, if you would follow his advice. Then, not only will you have the correct answer as to whether or not you need tires, but you will have gained the knowledge to benefit you, and maybe others, in the future. Don't be so sensitive.

Did your brother in law say why? Go to a major tire store and ask them to check them out. If they say you need new tires be sure and understand why. While you are at it go to two tire stores

and see if their findings compare. Tell your brother in law his car needs a new motor and a transmission.

How do you expect anyone to know if you need new tires just by answering an internet forum posting? Let me ask you the same question, do I need new tires on my Corolla? They have been on there 4 years and 40,000 miles. Do you know? I don't know about the tires on your vehicle either!!!!!!

There is one sure way for YOU to know, however. Do a little research about tire wear, when tires should be replaced, and minimum acceptable tread depths before replacement. You can easily do this yourself on the internet using Google.

Geez are you having a terrible day =

Well you know, Downtheavenue is right. No picture, and the only description is your brother in law says you need tires.

All tires have wear indicators on them. If the tread is worn down to the indicators you definitely need tires. But this is only one way to tell. How do they handle in different weather conditions?

Mileage is no indicator either. I've replaced tires at 35000 and have had tires that showed little wear and performed well at 100000 miles.
  • Get a penny or other coin and check the tread depth in various places on each tire. Tires with only 2/32 inch of tread left are considered worn out.
The Continental tires on our CRV only have about 60000km (36000miles)non them and have 3/32 inch of tread left, equal wear across all tires. I'm trying to hold out til November when I can put the winter tires on. Already had two flat tires this month.
