2014 Jeep Cherokee

We have been towing a 2014 Cherokee Limited since May 2014, other than the electronic parking brake issues, it had towed good. Last September we were in Colorado and hit a rough spot in the road. our 43' Allegro Buss started shaking so much I thought there was real problem with tires or front end. When I checked the front wheels on the Jeep.

I straightened the steering wheel and it was fine. Now when we hit a rough spot on a road the front wheels do not straighten so I have to come to a complete stop and start over. So far this has been when we were going 45 mph or less because of the rough road, but not sure if it is going to happen when going faster since it seems to be getting worse. Will be taking it to the Jeep dealer before we tow it again.

Any one else having problems with this or with the electronic parking brake coming on when not turned on? Thanks

    The brake applies when the engine is on and in gear if the door is open or opened. Easy to bump it too. I've found the parking brake issue has always been caused by me. If your aware of it this isn't a "problem". We always do a wheel turn check not just for the brakes but trans disconnect as well. I've haven't had our sway yet. At least that I knew about, never seen it swaying.

    I just visited with another owner of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee that has had his start swaying when he hits a pot rough spot in the road. It has happened to him 4 times now.

    Everyone I have talked to has had a problem with the electronic parking brake coming on when they did not think it should have. They now, as we do, have someone watch to be sure back wheels are turning before they start out.

    richnorsworthy - as the owner of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4X4, I am very interested in the outcome of the problems on your jeep. I wonder if you can pull a fuse and disable the electric parking brake?

    I'm also interested in the front end issues you have experienced. I love the Jeep, and hope that the problems you are experiencing are isolated, and not a design flaw. The only problem I continue to experience, is condensation on the inside of the headlight lens, on both sides. Hopefully, that will go away.

    I think for a 2WD you will have to tow on a dolly and not four wheels down.

    I found out Saturday from another dealer that he has had many complaints about the electronic parking brake. He did not go into detail, but apparently there have been others having an issue with the brake coming on when not expected, so be careful. We started smelling gas Saturday so that is the reason it is in the shop now. It happened 3 times that day.

    I have a 15' Cherokee Sport 2wd and wondering if it can be setup as a toad? I called the dealership and they were not much help...

    If so, can you point me in the direction as to what I would need to tow it?

    I finally got it in the shop today. They could not find anything of course, but did check everything in the front end and reset some of the alignment measurements. The shop fellow said that he did not think any of it would make a difference, so will not know until I tow it again. Will let you know.

    Good luck and so far I have not heard of anyone else with the problem.

    Getting ready to put my 2015 Cherokee Summit on the road behind our Greyhawk 31SS. Am very interested in your situation and remedy.
    We are using Roadmaster tow bar and will either go invisibrake or rvibrake2. But your issue with the Jeep raises my nervousness. Would appreciate a post on the fix. thanks

    Have the front end alignment checked. Pay particular attention to the castor setting. Sometimes a 1 or 2 degree positive increase in castor will solve your problem.

    Have you checked that the tow bar was properly installed. I am not sure if this could be an issue but how level is the tow bar? I made sure ours is very level.


    We about the same towed miles since 1/3/14 and have no problems also
    About 18,000 speedometer miles


    I have a Demco base plate and Blue Ox towbar
